Organic Bananas are a great first food for your baby. They are easy to digest and sweet like breast milk. They are often referred to as a pre-packaged meal for your baby…just bring it along as is, mash when needed and serve.
I like to take things to a different level though. I like to really tickle those tiny taste buds, and why not, the tastes are children develop in childhood will be with them for a lifetime. Now is the perfect time to introduce flavourful foods.
So, why not roast your bananas before serving to your baby. The roasting process takes the flavour to a whole new level, one your baby is sure to love.
Roasted Banana Puree
4 organic bananas
Pre heat oven to 250 degrees
Place bananas on a baking sheet and roast in preheated oven until soft, about 30 minutes. Let bananas cool until they can be handled.
Peel cooled bananas holding them over a bowl to catch any liquid.
Puree using an immersion blender until smooth. Serve to baby or transfer to airtight container and refrigerate or freeze.
This puree is a great first food for your baby. Once your baby reached the 9 to 12 month age range you can add little cinnamon to kick it up a notch and increase the flavour.
